Why Chestermere
Chestermere has the lake, the newer streets, and very little between it and an incoming storm. Three things drive most of our work here.
Hail that forms over the foothills rides the storm track east, and Chestermere sits in the lane. Calgary is in Hailstorm Alley; Chestermere is the next stop. We can't say when the next storm lands, but we can have your roof and its paperwork ready when it does.
What hail does to a roofStreets backing onto the water and homes on the outer edge of newer neighbourhoods take wind straight off open prairie. Gusts work at rake edges, ridge caps, and any shingle that never fully bonded, so on exposed elevations we hand-seal those courses rather than trust the factory strip alone.
Most of Chestermere went up after 2000: two storeys, walkouts, and roof planes far larger than an older Calgary bungalow's. A bigger roof gives hail more to hit and makes a roof replacement a bigger decision, on a street where the neighbours' shingles set a high bar.
Hail and insurance
Major hail stopped being a once-a-decade surprise in this part of Alberta. The August 2024 Calgary storm caused about $3.29 billion in industry-reported insured damage, and storm cells don't respect city limits. Many Chestermere homeowners have already been through a claim.

Hail rarely stops at the shingles. Alongside roof replacement and roof repair we handle siding, eavestrough, and soffit and fascia, so a storm means one estimate and one warranty conversation instead of three contractors in your driveway.
Our shop is in south Calgary, within easy reach of Chestermere. That matters less on installation day than three years later, when a warranty question gets answered by the company that put the roof on. A roof inspection with a written report is the cheap way to learn where yours stands before hail season, not after.
The local record
Chestermere does not get Calgary's leftovers. On the biggest hail day in the province's history, it got the full storm.

Lakeside Greens was the first of the modern neighbourhoods, built from 1991 to 1998. Lakeview Landing, The Cove, Westcreek and Westmere followed and are now 20 to 30 years old, which puts any original roof at replacement age before hail is even counted.
Rainbow Falls, Kinniburgh and the rest of the post-2000 streets carry the big roof planes this page talks about. South Kinniburgh, Chelsea, Dawson's Landing and Waterford are still being built, mostly on builder-spec shingles, and a roof inspection after the first big storm tells you what that spec was worth.
Chestermere's permit categories cover new homes, additions, decks and basements. A like-for-like re-shingle is not on that list; structural changes are. The City's Safety Codes Officer takes questions by appointment at 403-207-7075, and we settle the paperwork before work starts.

Often, yes. Storm cells that cross Calgary usually keep travelling east, and Chestermere has less shelter to slow the wind driving the hail. Nobody can promise what next season brings, but a documented roof makes a claim straightforward when a storm does land.
Most asphalt roof replacements we do run $8,000 to $18,000, and Chestermere homes tend to land in the upper half of that typical range because the roofs are bigger. Once we measure, you get the quote in writing. At tear-off we inspect the decking, photograph anything soft or rotten, and replace only the boards that need it.
We're here every hail season and plenty in between. The shop is in south Calgary, an easy run out, and the estimate, the installation, and any warranty visit all come from the same company, Monday to Friday, 8 to 5.

It is the first thing we would talk about on any replacement here. Class 4 is the highest impact rating a shingle can carry, some insurers price the policy accordingly, and after 2024 the case makes itself. It costs more per square, so we quote both grades in writing and let you pick.

Each price is a range because the shingle grade you pick moves the number. The cedar tear-off runs higher than the asphalt roofs at a similar size, because stripping cedar and rebuilding the deck is a bigger job than a reshingle. See the full breakdown.
